William and Isabella Dartnell resided in Fontenay House. You will see from the Census that Isabella was born and living in Liverpool with her family, aged 3, and the address was 'Fontenay'. Her maiden name was Jones. She married William Dartnell and they lived in Rochester at Fort Pitt House, 5 St. Margaret's Banks and then 39 Watts Avenue. Isabella outlived William but died in Buxton in Derbyshire, in 1947, leaving £61,000, a considerable sum for those days. She was still living in Fontenay House in1939 as a widow with a nurse and domestic servant. William was a surgeon and general practitioner. His parents were Irish, born Limerick and they spent some time in Canada. William had a lot of siblings born in Ireland, Canada and himself in Rochester. Of William's 3 children, (Isabella, Eric and Myra) one married a minister and emigrated to Canada, another seemed to take himself of to Sri Lanka, could have been something to do with the tea plantations maybe and not sure about Isabella yet. I am afraid that when I saved these docs, their titles didn't save with them but when Isabella was 3, being born in 1857, would have made it 1861. Hope this is of interest. I find it quite fascinating how peoples lives unfold.
